McNabb Traded

Donovan McNabb will remain in the NFC East.  However, he has a new home in Washington, D.C.  The Eagles and Redskins have struck a deal that will keep McNabb in the division.  McNabb is headed to Washington for the 37th pick in the 2010 draft and a third or fourth-round pick in 2011, conditional on McNabb's performance and where the Redskins finish in the division in 2010.  McNabb joins fellow QBs Jason Campbell, Rex Grossman and Colt Brennan in D.C.  The move signals the beginning of the Kevin Kolb era in Philadelphia.  It also means that Washington will not spend its first-round pick on Notre Dame QB Jimmy Clausen.  The team will likely target an offensive tackle at No. 4 to replace the recently-retired Chris Samuels.

Draft Picture Clearing as Movement Continues

The Seahawks may have acquired their next starting quarterback in former Charger Charlie Whitehurst.

They also acquired DE/LB Chris Clemons from the Eagles for pass rusher Darryl Tapp.

Ex-Panthers QB Jake Delhomme has resurfaced in Cleveland.

The Delhomme addition allowed the Browns to trade QB Brady Quinn to Denver for FB Peyton Hillis.

Meanwhile, another ex-Browns QB has landed in Arizona to compete with Matt Leinart.  Derek Anderson has signed a two-year contract with the Cardinals.

The Eagles cut ties with former Pro Bowl guard Shawn Andrews.

The Bears cut a former Pro Bowler as well in CB Nathan Vasher.

LaDainian Tomlinson turned down more money from the Vikings to sign with the Jets.

RB Larry Johnson will compete with Clinton Portis for carries in Washington.

Washington also added former Bears QB Rex Grossman.

Former Ravens DT Dwan Edwards has landed in Buffalo.

The Buccaneers have signed S Sean Jones to a two-year deal.

Offseason Movement Continues

The Cleveland Browns have traded a future draft choice to Seattle for one of Mike Holmgren's former projects, QB Seneca Wallace.  The acquisition could mean the end of Brady Quinn's tenure in C-Town.

Cleveland also signed New Orleans' LB Scott Fujita and OT Tony Pashos, who played last season with the 49ers.

Tampa Bay traded a sixth round draft pick in 2011 to Philadelphia for WR Reggie Brown.

The Detroit Lions continued to restructure, adding CBs Jonathan Wade and Chris Houston.  The team also dumped DE Dewayne White.

Houston was made expendable by Atlanta following the signing of CB Dunta Robinson away from the Texans.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are altering their roster a bit, bringing in new and old faces.  The team re-signed S Ryan Clark, but also added S Will Allen and WRs Arnaz Battle and  Antwaan Randle El.  Randle El was a key member of the Steelers Super Bowl team from a few years ago before bolting to big money in Washington.

Jacksonville made a big splash, signing former All-Pro DE Aaron Kampman from the Packers.

The Jaguars have also signed WR Kassim Osgood away from the Chargers.  Osgood, a special teams superstar, is hoping to compete for the #2 job in Jacksonville.

A battle of former #1 picks is brewing in San Francisco, where QB David Carr has signed to compete with incumbent starter Alex Smith.

The Dolphins signed LB Karlos Dansby away from Arizona.

Former Cardinals S Antrel Rolle was quickly picked up by the Giants.

Arizona didn't take long to find a replacement, trading for Jets S Kerry Rhodes.

Former Raiders OT Cornell Green has signed with the Bills.

The Raiders have also dropped WR Javon Walker and DE Greg Ellis.

Carolina has cut ties with a couple of long-time Panthers.  FB Brad Hoover and DT Damione Lewis will not be returning to the team next season.

St. Louis has signed DT Fred Robbins.  It's looking more and more like the Rams are targeting Oklahoma QB Sam Bradford with the first pick in the draft.

The Times They Are A-Changing

The Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears are making waves in day one of the free agency period.

Early Friday morning, the Lions and Browns worked out a deal to send DT Corey Williams back to the NFC North for undisclosed draft picks.  Then, Detroit added former Titans DE Kyle Vanden Bosch, who agreed to a four-year, $26 million contract.  The Lions also signed former Vikings and Seahawks WR Nate Burleson to a five-year, $25 million deal.

These moves have the potential to greatly affect April's draft.  By adding Williams and Vanden Bosch, the Lions may be shifting their focus away from Oklahoma DT Gerald McCoy (whose style of play is very similar to Williams') and towards either Nebraska DT Ndamukong Suh or Oklahoma State OT Russell Okung.  The possibility of trading down also becomes much stronger now.

The Bears have also been making noise with three arrangements of their own.  They added blocking TE Brandon Manumaleuna, who agreed to a five-year contract.  They also swiped RB Chester Taylor from the Vikings.  Taylor agreed to a four-year 12.5 million deal with $7 million guaranteed up front.  Carolina Panthers DE Julius Peppers is expected to sign with the club shortly.

Following the Peppers signing, the Panthers will have lost two franchise icons of the last ten years, as they cut ties with QB Jake Delhomme earlier today.

The New York Jets and San Diego Chargers worked out a deal that sent CB Antonio Cromartie to New York for a high draft pick in 2011.

After releasing RB LaDainian Tomlinson, the Chargers have decided to hang onto Darren Sproles...for now.

The Green Bay Packers are on the verge of losing two key veterans.  Left tackle Chad Clifton is being wooed by the Washington Redskins and Ted Thompson isn't expected to match bids with Daniel Snyder.  In addition, DE Aaron Kampman is expected to choose between Tampa Bay, Philadelphia and Seattle.  Should Kampman sign with the Bucs, the offseason could be incredible for the team if Suh somehow falls to the team at #3 in the draft.

Journeyman QB A.J. Feeley has signed with the St. Louis Rams.

Georgia Tech will lose three key starters to the draft.  DE Derrick Morgan, RB Jonathan Dwyer and S Morgan Burnett will all turn pro.

Four More Declare

With the January 15th deadline looming, the clock is ticking on underclassmen declarations.  Texas redshirt sophomore S Earl Thomas made his decision to skip his final two years of school in favor of a first round future.

Not surprisingly, USC receiver Damian Williams is entering the draft.

After getting a second round grade, Georgia Tech receiver Demaryius Thomas will jump to the NFL.

South Florida wideout Carlton Mitchell will also enter the draft.

Will Colt McCoy's injury hurt his draft status?  Mel Kiper sees him falling somewhere between late-first to third round.

Look for the Texans to find another running back to compete with Steve Slaton and Arian Foster.
